Our roots run deep in the rich traditions of the Chagga people. The foundation of our story was laid by Charles' parents, Aquiline Kitutu Makoi and Shose Marehe Masuki, who settled on beautiful land surrounded by fresh mountain air. Here, they raised their five children and built a legacy founded on hard work, resilience, humility, compassion, and integrity.

In 1958, the family faced a profound turning point when Charles' father, Aquiline, passed away. It was then that his mother, Shose, became the heart of the family. With extraordinary courage and determination, she raised five children while caring for the family's land. Her strength, kindness, and unwavering love transformed their home into a place where everyone felt welcome—a spirit that continues to inspire everything we do today.

Long before the idea of Hotel Aquiline was born, Charles discovered his passion for hospitality. He wanted to share the warmth and joy of welcoming others that he had learned from his mother. In 2005, he turned that dream into a reality by founding Hotel Aquiline in Arusha.

He named the hotel after his late father as a lasting tribute. Today, as an independent, privately owned establishment, the name "Aquiline" stands as a promise to our guests. It represents the values of hard work, humility, and perseverance that shaped Charles' life.
